Avalon Public School has three dance groups comprising a total
of around eighty students from Years 2 to 6. Interested students are
auditioned and selected at the beginning of the school year and
rehearse regularly during the year. These groups represent the school
with distinction at the Sydney North Dance Festival, State Dance
Festival, Northern Beaches Eisteddfod and the NSW Schools Spectacular.
Members of the dance groups have the opportunity to audition for
district and regional dance ensembles and attendance at the Sydney
North Talented Dance Camp. The Avalon Public School Dance Group is
supported by an energetic parent committee, which always welcomes new
members.

Membership of the Avalon Public School Band Program is highly sought
after. There are three bands in the program:
- a training band;
- a concert band; and
- a performance ensemble.
Membership is open to students by audition at the end of each year.
Newcomers to the school may audition at any time. The bands hold
practices and tutorials several times each week. Some band instruments
are available for hire from the school. Many opportunities are
available for the bands to perform including ANZAC Day at Palm Beach
RSL, Avalon Market Day, local charities, Education Week and other
school functions. There is an annual three day band camp which members
of the band are expected to attend. An annual fee is charged for band
membership. The band exists due to strong parental support and
