Avalon School places high importance on preparing students for the future. In order to support our students in this area, we provide learning opportunities that utilise a variety of technology resources.
The school has two computer labs along with at least three computers in each classroom. The computer network allows students and teachers to access the world wide web and to use individually allocated email accounts. Due to the school being within the Department and Education and Training's wide area network, the web browsing and email service is appropriately secure for our young users.
Recent years have seen a focus on the provision of interactive
whiteboards in classrooms. By early 2009 all classrooms will be
equipped with one of these outstanding teaching tools.
Staff training in technology is an ongoing focus with considerable
resources being allocated to this task to ensure our teachers are
highly competent users of technology in the classroom setting.
A fully computerised library with internet facilities encourages students to use technology as well as a variety of other resources for research and to develop information skills.
Our commitment to modern technology is on going and strongly
supported by the P&C. The future will see us striving to utilise
all available technology to enhance further, our students' learning
experiences.
